Neighbours works best when residents treat each other with kindness and respect. These guidelines explain how to keep your building's community space welcoming, safe, and useful for everyone. They work alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
You're communicating with your neighbours — real people who share your building. Be courteous, constructive, and patient. Personal attacks, harassment, bullying, or discriminatory language about someone's race, religion, gender, sexuality, ability, or background are not tolerated and may result in content removal or account suspension.
Post content that matters to your building community: announcements, events, items to lend or borrow, amenity bookings, and neighbourly requests. Avoid spam, advertising, chain messages, or off-topic posts that clutter the feed for others.
When offering items to lend or give away, describe them truthfully. When posting an event or announcement, use accurate dates, times, and locations. Misinformation — especially about safety, maintenance, or building operations — can cause real harm.
Don't share another resident's personal information (unit number, contact details, photos) without their consent. Photos taken in shared spaces should not single out individuals. If you're unsure whether something is appropriate to post, ask the person first.
The sharing board relies on trust. When you borrow an item, agree on a return date with the owner and return it in the condition you received it. If something is damaged, let the owner know and offer to make it right. Repeated failure to return borrowed items may result in losing access to the board.
Book shared amenities (party room, gym, BBQ) only for times you'll actually use them. Cancel bookings you no longer need so others can use the slot. Leave amenities clean and follow any rules your property manager has posted for the space.
Neighbours is not a substitute for emergency services. In an emergency — fire, medical crisis, or threat to safety — call your local emergency number first, then notify your property manager through official channels. Do not rely on community posts for urgent help.
If you see content that violates these guidelines or makes you unsafe, report it through the in-app Help & Support page. Your building administrator and our team review reports and take appropriate action. Retaliation against someone for reporting a concern is itself a violation.
Content that violates these guidelines may be removed. Repeated or serious violations may lead to restricted access to features or suspension of your account. Building administrators manage their own communities and may set additional rules for their building.
